Eligibility
Applicants shall be:
a. non-Chinese citizens.
b. in good physical and mental conditions and with good academic performance and conduct.
c. with no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the University.
d. aspiring to the Chinese language education and related work.
e. aged between 16 and 35 (as of September 1st, 2023). Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45.
f. independent users of the Chinese language
One-academic-year program (Chinese language study) applicants shall have a minimum score of 210 in the HSK test (Level 3). Priority will be given to applicants who provide an HSKK test score. International students who have benefited from similar scholarships are not eligible.
One-academic-year program (TCSOL) applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 in the HSK test (Level 4) and have an HSKK test score. International students who have benefited from similar scholarships are not eligible.
One-semester program (TCSOL)applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 in the HSK test (Level 4) and have an HSKK test score. International students who are holding X1/X2 visa are not eligible.
Scholarship Coverage
tuition fee waiver, living allowance, free on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance
Application
Application starts from 1st of March, 2023.
We will receive application up to 15th of May, 2023 if you choose a program commencing in September 2023.
For applicants of programs commencing in March 2024, scholarship application must be completed before 15th of November, 2023.
Application Procedure
Step 1 Online Registration
Register at http://cis.chinese.cn
Step 2 Submit Application
Fill out the application form and upload application materials online.
* Applicants can track the application status through the application portal.
Step 3 Take Evaluative Interview
Take interview organized by SUFE (online interview).
Step 4 Admission Results
Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) that will make the final decisions of scholarship awardees. In general, decisions are rendered about 3 months before the matriculation.
Step 5 Admission & Matriculation
Scholarship winners need to print out the scholarship certificate and contact SUEF to submit program application at SUFE applicant portal (http://ao.sufe.edu.cn), as well as confirm semester arrangements and matriculation procedures.
Application Documents
Please scan and upload the following documents through the application portal.
a. Passport identification page.
b. HSK, HSKK score reports (the test score is valid for 2 years since the date of test).
c. One letter of reference by the head of the recommending institutions.
d. A certification of the highest education level (or proof of expected graduation)
e. Academic transcript.
Note:
* Applicants with documents issued in a language other than English and Chinese, will need to submit both the original and certified English/Chinese translation of the documents.
* An applicant under the age of 18 shall submit a commitment letter from of the guardian who lives in China and has been entrusted by the applicant’s parent(s).
* Applicants who are working as Chinese language teachers applying can be exempted from submitting HSK test score report as they are required to provide proof of employment and a letter of recommendation from the employer.
* Applicants who have won the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate in Chinese Bridge competitions should submit their application documents along with their scholarship certificates to SUFE through International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship applicant portal.
